Operation: Shoebox09.28.14 | News | by Outreach CommitteeNotesShoeboxes 9/28/14Operation: SHOEBOX Our annual Operation: CHRISTMAS CHILD is KICKED OFF!!! Boxes have been distributed for filling with toys, school supplies, and personal hygiene items that will be distributed by Samaritan’s Purse to children around the world. The boxes are broken down for distribution to a girl or a boy and by age groups: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14 years of age. Brochures are available in the vestibule that offer suggestions on how to fill the box and it includes labels for the boxes. Filling a box is a wonderful learning opportunity for our children and grandchildren as they can complete a box for someone like themselves in a faraway place- sharing God’s love around the world! Another prayer opportunity is to fill a box in honor or memory of a loved one, to share in their name. Please, join us in this wonderful opportunity to partner with the world wide church. Your completed boxes are due at the church on Sunday, November 9. We will blessed the boxes and their recipients at the 10:30 Eucharist on November 16. The Outreach committee will check each box (and add some candy) then transfer them to the Collection Center on Saturday November 22. If you, and your children, would like to join us on that day, all are welcome! YOU can help to make Christmas a little brighter for a child in need - here in our own country or in a place faraway! For more information or to offer your support, please contact Reba Webb or Peg Graber, as soon as you can. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/
